2nd International Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge

THE Department of Tourism formally announced recently the staging of the country’s toughest adventure race dubbed as the second International Mt. Apo Boulder Face Challenge on April 28 and 29, a report in the SCOOP Davao chapter's facebook page said.

“We’re expecting 35 teams both from local, national and international,” said DOT regional director Art Boncato at the special edition of the weekly SCOOP at the Zoofari Kids Adventure in Bacaca.

“This 24-hour extreme sports challenge will entail four disciplines – mountain biking, trekking, white water tubing and road running,” said Boncato, who was accompanied by event coordinator Joyce Cesar, race director Albert Gabriel and City Tourism Office’s Ian Garcia.

Kenyan rules Philhealth run


KENYAN Joshpat Kiptanui bested the local bets even as early top favorite Cynthia Jaro lived up to her lofty billing in the Davao leg of the Mindanao-wide Philhealth Run recently at SM City Davao, according to the Scoop Davao Chapter's Facebook page.

Kiptanui clocked 58 minutes and 55 seconds to win the men’s open in the 17 kilometer race. He was followed in second by Anthony Nerza of Brokenshire College at one hour, two minutes and four seconds.

Third was Elmer Bartolo of Holy Cross of Davao College at 1:05:09.

Nerza, Donoz top 13th Jollibee Family Fun Run


Top favourites Anthony Nerza and Flordeliza DoƱos shared the limelight in the 13th Jollibee Family Fun Run held recently in an out-and-back course at NCCC Mall in Davao City, according to a news release posted in the Scoop Davao Chapter's Facebook page.

Nerza of Brokenshire College clocked 32 minutes and 45 seconds to win the men’s open in the 10K race. He was followed by schoolmate Arnie Macaneras (35:19) while James Castillo (35:22).

Globe Run4Home 2012 races to Cebu


All roads lead to the Queen City of the South as Cebu becomes the official home of this year’s Globe Run4Home, one of the biggest and most awaited running events in the country with the many innovations it pioneered in Philippine marathon history.

The Globe Run4Home 2012 races to the Cebu International Convention Center on March 25, 2012 gathering not only the running community of Cebu, but also its legion of running aficionados in Manila and key cities nationwide to celebrate a common cause: help provide sustainable shelter to those in need, especially victims of Typhoon Sendong.
