I greatly enjoyed my first Energizer night race in 2011 held inside the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
It was a night to remember, although it was not my first night race.
The memories are still vivid. How can one forget the runners rushing out of the starting line with their lighted head gears?
At that instance, I remember my childhood when fireflies still roam the night and provide glittering almost hypnotic lights.
And on May 4, 2013, on the same venue, I will be reminiscing my childhood with fellow runners rushing out of the starting line like fireflies, providing the glittering light of the 5th Energizer Night Race Manila 2013.
Here are the FAQs about the race:
Q1. Please provide a brief background of Energizer Night Race for a Better World.
A1. Part of Energizer’s “that’s positivenergy™” campaign is the Energizer Night Race for a Brighter World. It is a global series of night time running events where participants race by the light of an Energizer® LED headlight to raise awareness for the need for safe, clean solar lighting around the world. In its first year, the Energizer Night Race for a Brighter World featured more than 30 races across 20 countries with more than 75,000 participants.
Q2. Why a night race?
A2. There is a special connection between racing at night—an activity normally reserved for daylight hours—and the experience of 1.3 billion people around the world whose activities are limited by a lack of electricity. Energizer want to give people the opportunity to get hands-on in helping to make a positive impact.
It is part of our company philosophy called “that’s positivenergy™,” which represents our commitment to performance combined with responsibility. In this instance, performance means providing high-quality LED headlights that night race participants can count on to light their path, and responsibility represents the fact that their footsteps translate into millions of hours of solar light donated to rural families around the world.
