Unboxing my #RunUnited Philippine marathon race kit

I was so delighted when I received my Run United Philippine Marathon 2014 race kit last week. The event is the final and third leg of the annual Run United Trilogy which will be held this coming October 5.

The race will start and end at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Lo and behold I received a box instead of a regular bag like in the first two legs of the trilogy, wherein you can opt to participate by running first in the 21k, then the 32k and finally the full marathon.

Runners can also participate in the trilogy by running in the the same distance, the challenge of which is to finish better after each race. This year my goal was to run in the 21k events of the trilogy and post better finishes after each race.

Fun but looking for a better NGC Earth Day run

Jude Turcuato, Head of Fox

International Channels, during
warm-ups. Behind him were the
Miss Earth beauty pageant
participants.
Last Sunday's National Geographic Earth Day run was fun.

Most of the people who participated in the fifth edition of the annual event will admit that they had fun.

I had fun.

Except when I and thousand of runners negotiated the "dark" parts of the route.

Most runners who participated in this even would agree that it was difficult if not dangerous to run when visibility is very bad.

I saw runners negotiating the Buendia fly-over under a very bad lighting conditions. This was the same when runners negotiated a long stretch of road right after the starting line.

The races, except the 3k event, can be considered as night runs because of the times the runners were sent out.  The gun start this year was very early. The 42k participants were sent out as early as 12 midnight. This was followed by runners in the 21k, 10k and 5k.

NGC want runners' help for Typhoon Yolanda victims

On April 27, 2014, National Geographic Channel (NGC) renews its commitment to the environment by celebrating this year’s Earth Day (which falls on April 22 globally) with another round of its wildly successful Earth Day Run.

Now on its fifth year, Earth Day Run is expected to attract 12,000 running enthusiasts of all ages and fitness levels to participate for the good of the environment.

NGC hopes to replicate that success for Earth Day Run 2014 by registering 12,000 runners in the 3K, 5K, 10K and 21K categories, including a new fifth category of 42K designed to draw the most physically fit and expert runners in the country. Press Release: adidas launches Springblade

Manila, February 2014 – Today adidas launches Springblade in the Philippines, the first running shoe with individually tuned blades engineered to help propel runners forward with one of the most effective energy returns in the industry.

“Springblade’s progressive look and blade technology are radically different than any running shoe ever created,” said James Carnes, global creative director of performance at adidas.  “At the same time, adidas’ goal is to create a beautiful performance shoe designed to be simple and intuitive.”
