1st All-Women Ultramarathon


Ladies who wish to take on the challenge of a 50K run can participate on the 1st All-Women Ultramarathon scheduled on March 10, 2012 in Metro Cebu.

Limited to 100 participants, the event, organized by  Ungo Runners and  Cebu Ultramarathoners Club, will be part of the International Women's month celebration.

A cut of time of 10 hours will be imposed after the runners are flagged off at the Active Zone of Ayala Center Cebu and negotiate routes in Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu where the race will end.

Pinoy runners dominate 2012 SIM

Ryan Mendoza and Jul Laiza Camposana topped the 42K event of the 2012 Subic International Marathon held last Jan. 21 inside the sprawling tourist and industrial complex, organizer eXtribe said in a press statement.

Mendoza submitted a clocking of three hours, seven minutes and four seconds to pocket the P20,000 top cash prize while Camposano finished the marathon in 3:58:10 to likewise bag the P20,000 cash prize in the distaff side. Both runners receive 2012 SIM Dog Tags.

Building Dreams Run


THE Building Dreams Run is set on February 12 at 5 a.m. in an out and back course at the Trust Home Depot in Quimpo Boulevard in Davao City.

The categories are the 500-meter dash for the children ages five to 12 years old, 3-kilometer, 5K and 10K. The 500m is only for the 100 slots with a registration fee of P120 inclusive of race bib, certificate of participation, loot bag and snacks.

The 3K, 5K and 10K registration fee is P300 with free singlet, certificate, race bib and snacks.

“This is for the benefit of the Lower Tamugan National High School,” said Stephanie Seng Ong of THD recently during the SCOOP at Royal Mandaya Hotel.

Also present at the weekly public sports program sponsored by RMH, Beefit Gym, Genesis 88, Philippine Sports Commission, Yellow Gate, High Ponds Resort and Stadium Buffet Restaurant and Sports Lounge was Shauna Seng, also of THD.

Cash prizes, medals and gift vouchers will be given away to the top 10 finishers, while there will be exciting prizes for the raffles.

2012 Subic International Marathon

A big number fo participants in the 2012 Subic International Marathon (SIM) are foreigners.

Organizers said in a press statement released recently that participants include runners from United States, Canada, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.

Because of this development, organizers are optimistic that the Subic International Marathon will soon be among the recognized running event, not only in the Philippines but also in the global running community.


The 2012 SIM offer running enthusiasts a lush green course within the grounds of Remy Field of Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Olongapo City.

Organized by premier multi-sports events company, eXtribe, Inc., local and international runners can expect a safe, clean and secure race course in the event that also offers 5, 10, 21 and 42k races.

Extribe promises that there will be hydrating station within every 1.5km; full medical support in case of emergency; RFID Accurate Timing System, and; an uncrowded run with the split-schedule of the races.

Beedang Takbo para sa Autismo


If you happen to be in Davao City at the end of the Month, you can suppport Jollibee Davao's 13th annual Fun Run, dubbed as “Beedang Takbo Para sa Autismo” on January 29, Sunday, 5 a.m. in an out-and-back course at the NCCC Mall Car Park Parking A.

“We are holding this for the benefit of the Davao Alliance Autism Conference set on Jan. 28 at SMPC. But part of the proceeds will still go to the Davao City Water District Adopt A Site Project,” said Leah Mae Bunami of the JTC Group of Companies at the SCOOP at Royal Mandaya Hotel recently.

New Balance race to benefit Typhoon Sendong victims



RunClub Davao announced recently that aside from the Agdao-based beneficiary, they will also extend help to the Sendong victims through the Philippine Red Cross.

Monchit Mackay of RunClub Davao, in a story posted at Davao Scoop Chapter's Facebook Page, said that “We want to extend help to the severely affected people in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan. So, we decided to extend a hand to them as a second beneficiary of the run.”
