Tabal tops Run United's 32k women's race

MORE FUN RUNNING IN THE PHILIPPINES. You can
see how fun it is to run in the Philippines with the smiles from
the 32K women podium finishers.

CONGRATULATIONS to triathlon specialist Mary Joy Tabal, who according to reports, fought not only the sweltering Manila heat but an upset stomach to post a top spot finish in the 32k women's race of the recent Run United 2 which started and ended at the Km 0 in front of the Jose Rizal Monument at Luneta Park.

Tabal posted a time of two hours, 11 minutes and 28 seconds to win over former national runner and MILO marathon champion Christabel Martes (2:11:58) eventual third placer Luisa Raterta (2:27:52).

I may be wrong, but I think this is the first footrace in the country wherein runners negotiated part of the Cavitex. It was a different experience running on the Cavitex tarmac. I remember negotiating Commonwealth avenue during the Quezon City International Marathon and it always solicit a smile everytime I remember running in the inner lane of the most notorious highway in the country.

Runners run for different reasons.

Runners too have different reasons participating in the Run United.

As for the writers of this blog, what motivates me is finishing the trilogy.

I have been running in the Run United for several years now but never finished the trilogy.

Now, I have two 21k finishers' medals and hopefully get the third one comes October.
